ROSEMARY, HEAVEN RESTORES YOU IN LIFE

Alright, so I've downloaded the new Interpol album. To be perfectly honest, the first time I heard it I was like "this is good... but yeah, it's good." Despite being a fan since 1999 or 2000 or something (not to pull shit like that out...), it took me about a week or two to agree with my friend that Turn on the Bright Lights was an orgasmic album. It was a grower. For whatever reason I thought that Antics would appeal to me instantly. It was appealing, but definitely not something that made me feel less complete if I didn't listen to it at least once in the day. I thought something was wrong with me. Paul's lyrics/voice was definitely stunning, and the band sounded really grand and epic, as promised. But the emotional pull was missing.

Then this weekend happened. Suddenly, like an anvil falling on a coyote's head, I was struck down by its absolute gorgeousness. Paul has such a way with lyrics sometimes -- he's able to make the most ridiculous line sound like absolute poetry written by Rimbaud -- and the band knows how to make those statements sound like the most profound declarations of all time with their swooping sounds that suddenly become soundtracks to your life.

The other day I was riding my bike through the city when "Take You on a Cruise" came on. I must've yelled "i am the scavenger!" really loudly cause everyone started staring at me. And last week I DJed the single "Slow Hands" at Crobar and people were actually dancing to it. I was pretty stoked.

This album just gave me a boner.

Is someone who works for Spin supposed to be downloading Interpol? Shouldn't they have hooked you up with the promo copy? IMHO Evil should be the first single. You're right Sarah, the album doesn't jump right out at you except for Evil which is what Joy Division would sound like if Ian Curtis hadn't hung it up (sorry).

I've been digging Antics all weekend as well, and I keep coming back to it - much like I did w/TOTBL, which I also took a while to get into.

BTW: I am still laughing at that animated stormtrooper gif...

Just so you know, the leaked version is either A.) unmastered or B.) ripped from cassette, depending on which one you got. So chances are, the finished album will sound a little different.

The single, however, is in its finished version.

robot mark.

Because I'm a complete dumass and haven't downloaded anything since Napster got shut down by those Metalicca goons, how exactly does one go about downloading a copy of the new Interpol album? I, like, need it and stuff.

Promise I won't tell anyone... shhhhhh...

sarah,
somehow the album has yet to grow on me. it's really hard to top "turn on the bright lights"...but i think soon enough "antics" will appeal to me in the same way.

Dear AlexisT:

Thank you for enjoying our party. I, however am not "faux sarah" but "real sarah"--my friends, including the "chick in camo" were trying to keep crashers out as last year we hd our remote control stolen at our annual 4th of july party. That's love from our friends. If you looked at the door (no doubt you did) you saw that our apt # was listed as the Rob'n'Sarah party--not the ultra Sarah party.

We don't recall any breakdancing--just spazdancing and randonm acts of spontaneous group karaoke to the likes of Sweet, Journey, et al.

I at least hope you brought your own alcohol OR shame on you!

Again, thank you for your patronage for our handinthebush productions.

Best,
Real Sarah 'n' Rob
