EFF CMJ... THIS IS A STOLEN TRANSMISSION

Karen and I are throwing a non-cmj cmj party ON OCTOBER 13 at a new place called SNITCH on 21st street and 6th ave (on the east side of 21st). The party is called: the tarts of pleasure present... A stolen transmission. We're having some amazing bands play and its open to everyone... This includes the 1 hour open bar at 10pm.

11pm - Apartment. Weareapartment.com they like interpol meets jeff buckley in his darker moments. You shouldn't miss them... They're from london and its their first show in NYC.

12am - the Madison Strays. You probably know them by now... Think Psychedellic Furs. Awesome.

1 am - THE BRAVERY. I'm quite sure this is the smallest venue you'll see them in for another 5 years... Unless they play a secret show that you will try to get into.

Before and after and in between sets there will be the song selections by the tarts of pleasure.

$5 to get in... Free with a cmj badge.

Be kind to our doorman Thomas O. He's awesome.

Maybe this question is too obvious but, where is it going to be?

Hi, now that the bravery are signed to island records, are you going to hype them like crazy too? please don't, sarah. We can all smell this a mile away.
Please.

is thomas o.'s karen's brother?

Sarah talking about a band because they got signed to Island Records is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard and I promise you that no such thought ever crosses her mind.

BTW. this post was written on a machine the size of a calculator while I was sitting with her in a bar. The future is here. I was like. hey sarah? whats that guy's name again? She fucking googles it from inside her purse and is like, "jeffrey". Yes, I can write emails and check sports scores but I can't fucking sign on to blogger.

I feel like a caveman having to sit in front of twenty pounds of equipment that takes up an entire desk just to comment.

All sounds good. I trust Sarah's taste 100%. Who are these bitter people who post comments on this site anyway?

Anonymous said...

She wasn't hyping the bravery yet, just announcing the show. She's not always 100% right. Sarah, are you backing the bravery?

The Bravery are probably the worst band in that whole scene. It's baffling that someone would put that crap out on their label. Total posers playing sterile, safe, recycled rock. JDC

There's nothing sterile about the Bravery. Just good indie pop. There are some real fuckwits posting on this blog...

hey sarah: do you have a link to a website for The Apartment? kinda hard to google and get relevant hits... thank you!

"We're having some amazing bands play and its open to everyone... "

by this "everyone" do you even mean the wee tots who are under the age of 18 like myself?

snitch reminds me of harry potter. can't help it. i'm a geek.

anyways, Madison Strays have a 3 song ep. If you come to Sarah's party on Wednesday, they will most likely have copies of it. You can also go to their myspace profile and hear a streamed copy of another song on the EP called "die alone" which is also great.

the bravery are just terrible.
really weak and derivative.

karen said...

unfortunately, the partys gonna be 21+ in terms of age restriction.

cant have snitch losing their liquor license this early on.....

the bravery are going to get slaughtered when they put thier record out or when more people start to see them. they're such a horrible joke it's disgusting.
Sarah, please do us all a favor and stop mentioning them.

dont you people realize that all the music sarah listens to is bad? she writes for spin magazine for christssake. the only thing sarah should be listened to in terms of is partying.. because that's all she can really do well. im sure this "ART PROJECT" is going to be as lame as her stupid column... but all you idiots that worship her and her blog will buy it.. so she'll get some money for it.. when the artistic genius who is too modest to start a fucking blog to praise himself toils away in obscurity.

fuck you ultragrrrl. you pretentious cunt.

listen cool guy...yeah you the anonymous poster above.

i don't know why you seem to be threatened by sarah's blog. if anyone is blowing things out of proportion, its you. sarah is harmless and comes off quite friendly. grow up. if you really need to rid the world of "evil pretentious cunts", then go vote on Nov. 2, ...otherwise STFU!

from Newsday:

"Rock and roll takes center stage at the new sports bar Snitch, which is co-owned by Duff McKagan and Scott Weiland of Velvet Revolver and Fuel's Brett Scallions."

um, am i the only one that is slightly put off by this? brett scallions? are you kidding me?

I apologize for being such a bitch to the doorman the other night. Really, I was just very wasted and trying to get out and go to white castle with my man. Too many people and when he gave me attitude I gave it back. I blame the martini's

Oh the doorman is not so innocent. Someone needs to give the poor man a xanax
