SPIN READERS POLL

Hello. Rarely do I suggest SPIN stuff (church and state/shul and state/mosque and state etc)... but this might be fun.

oh shut up, you moron. you're trying to spin every single thing sarah says now, and that's just lame. that's obviously NOT the reason she wants people to vote in a readers poll. get over it.

Though it is impossible to discern whether or not Sarah is "fishing for votes," I don't agree with relevancy of Questions 13, 14, 15, 16 by a magazine that reports on "All the Music That Rocks."

They are more in line with the listis presented on E! Entertainment Television best of shows.

Thanks for the link, actually. I had filled out the survey in my magazine, but realized it may never get there on time since the mail notoriously moves slowly this time of year.

On another (unrelated) note, I'm throwing a post-graduation cocktail party in December with some college friends of mine and want to introduce them to some new (to about half of them at least) music in the process. Any suggestions for that kind of event that you think would grab their attention, even when they're slugging down drinks? Would be greatly appreciated. My email address is blair_eliza@msn.com if you can or want to get back to me that way... or just reply here if you can. Thanks.

really, i've never posted before. and, um, what am i to get over? since you have the answer, why does she want people to vote in the poll? because it may save the publication from bankruptcy or because polls are FUN! oh, i know--because the ballot box isn't stuffed in the Spin election! but i'm just a moron, so please inform.

Are you serious? Like, as IF Sarah even needs to get her BLOG in the magazine, she's already all over it! That is the silliest thing I've ever heard. I think stereogum will win. I'm excited!

i admit that i am a douchebag with a stupid idea for a blog. but i have two observations.
1) so are most people that do this (i'm looking your way, sarah) and
2) congratulations on going almost two whole days without mentioning an afterparty. kudos to you!!!

ps spin kind of sucks. and by kind of, i mean really, really, really, way-more-than-anything-else-relating-to-pop-culture.

I strongly disagree. Spin is like America, slick and mostly superficial, but part of it is enlightened (Chuck Klosterman) and part of it is stupid (dumbass comic at the back). For a mainstream magazine, it's surprisingly democratic considering the type of non chart-topping, non top 40, non MTV music that's been mentioned or profiled.

Recently they profiled The Comas, one of my favorite albums of the year is Conductor by them. If you have ears you will love at least one of their songs...the bonus dvd is simply breathtaking...basically one long abstract music video of the entire album starring that girl that played Jen on Dawson's Creek.

New music, you say?

The Ditty Bops
The Loose Cannons
Shoplifting
Veronica Lipgloss and the Evil Eyes
Girls Aloud, "Love Machine"
Wedding Present, "Interstate 5"
Saint Etienne, "Primrose Hill"
Hidden Cameras
Black Strobe, "Chemical Sweet Girl"
Pet Shop Boys, "Flamboyant"
Nedelle and Thom
Baby
Selfish Cunt
Annie, "Me Plus One"

Etc. etc.

you *kids* really are fame whore sycophants---it's really amusing in that 'car crash' sort of way. i imagine a very spinal tap ending (that's not a compliment)

If the music list was indeed for me, thanks... I appreciate it.

well, yeah. they'd have a lot harder time pandering to trendy faux-hipsters if they profiled ashlee simpson in each issue. I did enjoy "making out with ultragrrrl", but now that that's gone, the mag is officially 100% shit.

Do not worry Sarah, I not like what spoonbender say about you. I fully support you in american dream. I have american dream to. I sure you have very very much happy success with book. now what you write about? whatever it is I be sure to make smile when reading! ;)
