So a few weeks ago, I was sitting around my apt, looking at old photos from shows I used to go to and telling Karen how much I miss going out to shows every night and loving the bands. Ever since starting Stolen Transmission, whenever I went to a show it was to see a band I was scouting. So I was stuck at the show thinking "is this band going to sell? what's their fan base? how would i market them?" Its like fucking homework all over again. I missed standing up front and not giving a shit and wondering what the band is doing later so that I could party with them and dance.
Then, ironically, my friend Dan from Universal hit me up asking if i wanted to write a blog for the universal website where I had to see a band every night and write about it. Literally, like, the next day this happened. The best part is that I dont have to write about bands on universal at all... but they would prefer that i made universal bands priority over who i saw that night, but it's not mandatory.
The ironic part is that Stolen Transmission used to go through universal before ties were severed in december leaving me income-less.... But now, i have an income again (a smaller one than before, but enough to barely pay rent until Stolen Transmission finds a new home)... AND I GET TO GO TO SHOWS!
So, i'm out every night and reviewing shows. Here's the website: ALMACK'S DANCE HALL.
Please book mark it!
Also, I'm DJing at SXSW!

Going to shows and writing about it.... Wasn't that what this blog was supposed to be about?
ill see ya there. thats right before i go hit autolux and helio sequence at red eye fly.
no, it was supposed to be about my sobriety.
i'm going to sxsw, how do i get in. make it happen.
hiii. my name is amy, and i've been reading this blog since forever. like my freshman year of college at columbia, and i just graduated last semester forever. i finally met you at the mtv woodie awards this past year. you got my friend a drink! and you were practically the sweetest person ever, i mean in terms of having just met someone. i'm going to be at sxsw because i live in houston now, and i want to listen to your set! i'm wristband-less because so many bands play for free-- is it a free show or do you have to have the wristband? PLZ say it's open to the public...
in any event, i wish you the very best (:
I want that job.
sobriety lmao
I live in Chicago, so I don't have access to as many cool shows as you, but when I'm in NYC next, which will be the end of the month, I'm going to check out this guy...
