More oohlas! The video for "Rupert Krikor Chang" (also not on the stolen transmission single). I bought a pink lace tutu betsy johnson dress this weekend (on sale at neiman marcus!) that was totally inspired by ollie. i want to be her. she's like my new karen oooooohla.

Were we? Yes, sort of.

I'm TOTALLY FUCKING OBSESSED BEYOND CONTROL with this song. right click, save as. dont stream. thanks!

this isnt on the single i'm selling, but it's my favorite song by them. you might not like it at first, but your itunes will it it up on random and you'll be like "who the fuck????" and then you'll get stoned and listen to it over and over again until you sing it to yourself in strange situations.

or is that just me?

First off: apologies to those still waiting for their oohlas cd! I'm waiting to get the stencil from the stencil dude in LA. He's a genius, but getting thse puppies takes a while and they only last about 50 cds and a shit load were ordered... so i'm screwed!

the oohlas are recording an album and ollie posted photos of their fun times doing so here.

Productshop Jason sent me this year's Coachella's confirmations... whoa. Did you just hear that sound? It was the sound of MY VAGINA EXPLODING.

Coachella Confirmations: Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay, Gang of Four, New Order, Mercury Rev, Wilco, Franz Ferdinand. The Prodigy, Rilo Kiley, Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, Futureheads, Chemical Brothers, Bloc Party, and so much more

Dear the fine people of Coachella -- please add: Muse, Interpol, the Killers, Razorlight, Good Charlotte, and umm... yeah, the oohlas. THANKS!

If you're in NYC i would like to suggest you go see ManMan tonight at Mercury lounge at 10. They're gonna be the next Arcade Fire ... they don't have songs as good as AF, but the show will be one of those things that you'll be stoked you caught. They're like crazy pirates.

Also, go see Brian Montouri's art show at Niagra tonight. He once made me a portrait of Neil Diamond using his pubic hair for my birthday. You know that's true friendship, right?

Um, anyway, i'm having a birthday party cause i'm aging

The party is on February 3 (my real 25th birthday!) at Happy Endings in chinatown (broome and forsythe) for the goth party called VISIONS OF THE IMPENDING APOCAPLYPSE (please).

I guess you should get there around 10 or 11pm.

The Vicar and I will be DJing together as the Goth Twins or Ultragoths or Ultragoth & Captian Crucifix or something totally fucking gay like that. I will be DJing nothing but Muse and Placebo, Josh will be playing other shit. Also DJing will be Carlos D from that band Interpol that I kinda like a lot. There will also be free Sparks.

Last year, the amazing Brian Battjer let me have a birthday party in his loft in chinatown with my friends Laura and Dan. We toyed with the idea of topping this party (i wanted to rent a bus and drive everyone to my parent's house or to the mall in NJ), but that is simply impossible. So this year it's low key. Just show up in ALL WHITE. and if you cant do ALL white, then dont do half white cause that's just gross. Do ALL black with accents of blood.

and if you, like josh, didn't know me last year and dont know how awesome my last party was, here:

pretend that this year will be just as fun. it wont be. but pretending is nice.

last year someone brought me a bottle of liquid vicodin. that's the sort of birthday gift that i'm into. Josh doesn't do that shit so he's bringing Willy Wonka candy for everyone -- i shit you not. If I invite my aunt Brenda she can break the candies for you so you dont choke like she did for everyone at my birthday party 20 years ago.

My friend Ollie is a really hot jewish British lawyer in London (my mom's dream man for me, right?) who likes to send me music every so often that i either love or hate. He was the first person to send me Bloc Party over a year ago... and so now he's sent me some more stuff:

This band simply called Keith. Download the song "Mona Lisa" (them and Britney looove the Mona Lisa these days). The song has almost the exact same rhythm riff as Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" but in an excusable way, cause apart from that, they're nothing like FF. I tried to get Karen to listen to it, but she's too busy. I promised her that it doesn't sound like a bunch of retards clapping (which is sort of what she thought the Annimal Collective sounded like... and she's right... but i still love them).

The second band Ollie sent me was Doloroso. I'm digging the song "Radio Silence". Who do they sound like? Damn, it's right on the tip of my brain, but I can't figure it out. The production reminds me of that band Rialto a little, but the band sounds like... something old and dark and french cinematic.

I was reading my new favorite blog when i came across this article and was hoping that someone could enlighten me on what about Brown Bunny went against SAG. I just don't know anything about that sort of thing and had no idea that there was such a thing as that.

Aaron from the Icarus Line is now in Nine Inch Nails.

My favorite canadian lesbian twins, ever, came to the SPIN offices while I was home sick with the flu the other week and played a bunch of songs acoustic. The fine people at were kind enough to tape a bunch of the songs and post them on the site. For real, it's worth watching.

Also, this is awesome (NTotallySFW). Just about as awesome as finding out that this guy you used to date is now going out with a 20 year old french model with a name cooler than yours, if you get my drift. Oh, hey, if you're the Dr. Steve that i met this weekend at Misshapes, i need some of that medical advice you said you'd give: Is it possible for your vision to go blurry from looking at gruesome photos? My friend apparently can't see straight after looking at photos from that blog of some guy cutting off his dick. Please advise.

So how was everyone's snowy weekend? Brian came over on Friday to cheer me up and took me to see Grant's band Fiasco at Rothko. I was supposed to DJ but was too emotionally spent to be out of the house for more than an hour. Touch of Class did an amazing job DJing -- FAR MORE amazing than me cause they're actual DJs. I just pick records.

Jordan came over on saturday night and we OnDemanded The Wizard starring Fred Savage and Jenny Lewis. Halfway through Adam Mandel came over (followed by Brian and Meredith, and Jordan's friend Alex) and magically found Tobey McGuire hanging out as an extra. The casting in this movie is amazing and the little dude that played the Wizard went on to be super fucking hot.

I realized that my dog died exactly one month before what would've been a celebration of our 16th year together. We had been together for 15 years and 11 months. It's sort of shocking.

My days have been total sadness accented by moments of happiness courtesy of my friends, whom have all been really good to me. Taking me to things like SNL and TRL and shows and parties. Checking up on me. Trying to make sure I'm ok. I can't believe that I'm this sad over the death of my dog. It's been one week already, you'd think I could be over it by now. But i'm not. I went to see Army of Me last night in brooklyn. I was so excited and happy when they got on stage, but suddenly it hit me. You know how in Fight Club, tyler durden splices in images into a movie? That's sort of what happened to me last night... I was standing by the stage watching and being happy when it was like . I'm pretty certain that if you saw my face the moment that image popped up in my brain by surprise, I would've resembled someone getting snuck up from behind. Boo! It's the boogeyman that is your thoughts. All I wanted to do the entire show was run off and call my parents to see what's going on with them and to check in. Had they cremated her yet? What's going on with her ashes? But I was up against the stage, pushing a smile out as my friend performed infront of me. I didn't want to run off and insult him, throw off his game, so i just stood there til the last chord. I will say that I was able to forget about things for a breif moment when they played their new song. Mostly because it was the best song they'd ever written, i think. I was happy to have my mind off things. When I finally called my dad it sounded like he was crying as well. he told me that he missed Maxine. I told him i did too. I got off the phone cause the connection was bad and sat alone for 15 minutes crying a bit.

I found that today was the hardest of them all. My alarm clock didn't go off, but I woke up basically on time. Then I laid in bed and cried hysterically for 20 minutes and managed to only get out because my nose was so stuffed. I blew my nose and fell to the ground crying hysterically for another 20 minutes trying to rock myself into comfort... which only made me cry more cause that's what i was doing for Maxine as she was dying. I finally managed to get dressed and get into a cab, but spent the rest of the day, up until now, crying. I feel like a wreck. I know that she was old and lived a great life and was loved. I'm happy about that. I'm gettng comfortable that she died. But when the worst nightmare that you get about 3 times a year for 16 years becomes a reality, it's sort of hard to not feel a bit of trauma. I had a dream the sunday before she died that there was a snake in the house that i had to kill or else it would kill maxine. I thought i managed to kill the snake and went to dispose of it's body, only to return and find that i was wrong and that it had eaten her up. This is the sort of dream that I had previously had several times a year for years, and here i am now, almost two weeks later, trying to deal with it's reality. Trying to deal with the fact that when i moved my hand from cradling her head to another part of her body is when she died. It's when she made the face that I didnt know was possible. And it's the moment that hasn't managed to escape my head.

I've been told that I should see a greif counselor, but I feel like it's a sort of situation that they can't help me with. How do you erase an image from someone's head? How do you delete a scene in a movie you didnt write?

Even my mom thinks so.

We are very good looking boys.

the oohlas and The Prix are playing a show tonight at the Knitting Factory in LA and i really really really suggest that you go. I just sent the oohlas a box of their single... only 20 of them, so you'll be able to pick them up there if you want. Get them while you can.

On a totally different note, i'd like to use this opportunity, since this is my blog to voice my opinions and feelings, to say that Greg the BF is looking hotter than ever these days. Holy moly. I got totally giddy around him last night.

Oh, last night i went to this party called Shindig that The Sexy Magazines have started to throw. I had no idea what to expect of it -- all i knew was that it would cost $10 to get in, there would be an open bar, and 4 bands would be playing. Um, it was pretty much one of the coolest parties i'd ever been to and the Vicar said it best when he said "i feel like i'm swimming in a sea of hip." It was sort of like one of those parties that you wish you could go to every day of the week... presumably when the weather is better and a cab doesn't splash slush all over your all white j.lo style get up. It was one of those parties that made me forget about the fact that I spend most of the day sad. It was fun. My hat's off to Franco for pulling it off. The Five O'Clock Heroes performed their last show in the states for three months cause they're going to the UK to open for the Bravery. I loved watching them from upfront with the crowd swelling up so much that i was nearly lined up with Antony. It was like being at a Libertines gig, minus the heroin.

tonight I'm going to southpaw to see Army of Me. Ground control to emotom.

OK, so it's like return of the bands I was obsessed with in 2000... Idlewild. I remember telling my mom once, when she was much more strict about me missing out of friday night dinners that there were five bands i had to be let out for if they had a show: Radiohead, Muse, Placebo, Idlewild, and i forget the fifth, but I'm sure they were great. Idlewild though ... Idlewild were just totally mindblowing to me. The lyrics, the songs... punk rock REM and Smiths -- or something along those lines -- I'm down with that.

So anyway, Roddy has been living with one of my partners in crime extraordinaire and going out with us fairly regularly when he's in town. I began to forget that he was the guy from the band that I used to listen to with the lights out while crying over a broken heart. I never figured that he knew what I was feeling with his lyrics, or that I knew what he was feeling, but what I did know is that something about his words were so relatable.

When my friend just IMed me to say "By the way, that new Idlewild video is online." i quickly went to check out my buddy's latest vid. To be honest with you, I wasn't as into their last album as I would've liked to have been ... mostly cause i thought that 100 Broken Windows was genius and hard to top... anyway, I had listened to the new songs a couple of times, but it wasn't until i saw this new video that I got that feeling again. That feeling like "You know how i'm feeling! You understand!" Typing this post i'm starting to feel overwhelmed by emotion. The video evoked a feeling in me... Watching Roddy sing and be Roddy in a way that I'm not used to, I'm able to replace my image of him with the once unatainable poet I first knew him to be.

Go to and check out the front page. You can see "Love Steals Us From Lonliness" for yourself.

God Bless Idlewild.

Before there were 2ManyDJs, there was Soulwax and the songs they wrote (instead of mashed up) on guitars and drums and all that stuff a band typically uses. I was TOTALLY obsessed with soulwax (ooooh... i'm so delighted that i've been reminded of them!!!) and their album "Much against everyone's advice."

So anyway, peep their new video here by clicking on "05 Video" and watch the vid for "E Talking"...besides the song being totally amazing (Jarvis Cocker played it when he DJed), the video is gorgeous.

Shit is hot!

Alright, so today I hear the new Lindsay Lohan song while at TRL with Brian, Meredith, and the Vicar to see the Killers and I couldn't really hear it too well cause i kept on turning to the posse of misfits and going "She's so hot. I wanna do her." Needless to say, between gasps I heard bits and pieces and thought "that shit is poppin. i'm not talking bout that ultimate dancefloor stuff poppin... i'm talking about the rock popping. it's is like an emo song but with her singing." So then I'm in a van driving the Killers to the airport, sitting next to a nodding off Brandon whom i had just made listen to My Chemical Romance's "I'm Not OK (I Promise)" and replying to my inqueries of "how you doin buddy?" with "I'm ooooookay.", chatting to my babycakes Wyatt, and all I can think about is going home to hear this. No wait... all I could think was "Like, OMG! Brandon's knee is totally touching mine!"

So the song is called "Over." listen to it. dont judge without listening.

If you dont like "over" you will love this:

This is sort of like one of those posts where i get a call from my coucil saying "bad sarah! bad!"

My Chemical Romance is gonna be performing on TRL this afternoon. I'll be the fat one in the sea of screaming teenaged girls.

Dang! My friend in Nightmare of You sent me a demo they did of a song called "Girls" that i can't stop listening to if my life depended on it (it's like the libertines in the sweetness of it, just totally pop and lofi and goshdang addictive). I wish i could put it online without them killing me or help you all in getting it... booo! Argh. I made them play it for me on acoustic guitar today cause i was apart from the song for too long and was about to go nuts. I even tried listening to the Spinto Band's "Oh Mandy" to get over it... but no use (well... i had to listen to "oh mandy" 2 times)! I'm sitting here trying to convince NOY to let me release it on stolentransmission. You all will have exploding vaginas.

I want to thank everyone for their incredibly kind words. I can't express how much it helped me and even the rest of my family. It's been really hard, but I'm happy to at least know that Maxine is no longer in pain, and I'm happy that I was there with her for her final moments because I never would've been able to deal otherwise.

On a totally different and lighter note, and since I'm looking for something to take my mind off things for a bit...

Almost everyone that ordered their oohlas singles should've recieved them by now. To the few of you who haven't yet (basically orders placed post January 5), I'm very sorry. I'm quickly making more -- the artwork takes some time. Anyway, I was just wondering what you all thought of this single -- the music and the artwork, and whatever else goes with it. I'm just so in love with the oohlas, and I'm hoping that everyone else is as well.

PS - THE KILLERS will be on SNL tonight. If I'm not at the taping (Horatio Sans still has a restraining order against me... i keed i keed), i'll be at the Saints + Lovers show at the mercury lounge and then Kaiser Cheifs show at the tribeca grand. Music is awesome.

my mom and i were laying in bed with maxine, trying to be with her so she knew that she was with people that loved her. i kept my thigh touching her body so that as she slept, despite her blindness, she could feel me. i gave her kisses. and then she started shaking. having a seizure it appeared. i yelled to my mom who was laying about a foot frome me "mom, something's wrong. something's wrong! i think she's having a heartattack." we petted her and kissed her, not knowing what to do. "should we take her to the hospital?" my mom asked? "i dont think we have time." i replied.

i placed her on the ground and her seizures started to get worse. I ran off to put on my jeans and picked her up out of the arms of the woman whom my mom hired as a housekeeper/dog carer (we're not wealthy people by any means, but this dog required a lot of attention and care, and with my mom working... oh i dont have to explain). My mom and i ran downstairs and jumped into her car as my dog's body continued to shake and stiffen in my arms. a few miles of driving and i turned to my mom and asked her if she passed gas. she said she didnt and we realized that it was my dog. it turns out that when dogs are dying, they tend to deficate. we drove a few miles, the two of us freaking out. my mom driving as i held my dogs head and rocked her body praying that she was just having a prolonged seizure. suddenly i saw death. i saw her curl and her face make a look that i'd never seen before. she let out a sigh. "oh my god, mom! something's not right! mom i think she's dead. mom!" and i knew she was gone. her body went limp. her eyes didnt close. her mouth didnt close. i started hysterically crying. my mom said "she's not dead. she's not dead. we're going to the hospital. she's not dead." i cradled and kissed her, but i knew my mom was wrong.

as we got to the hospital i ran out of the door and handed her to the attendant who was waiting for us. "i think it's too late." i told her. she quickly carried her to the back and tried to revive her. it was too late.

so i've been asked to update my blog. i've been super ill since monday night with the flu. i was finally able to stand up today for the extended periods of time for the first time since i fell ill. i thought i'd be able to go back to work tomorrow but then my mom called to pretty much tell me that my dog was dying and that she was picking me up to spend some time with her.

i would really like some good news this week for once. its been a rough week.

So I'm working on this book about iPod playlists and one that is giving me so muc delight is one mix that i dubbed the:
"You Have No Idea How Much I Miss You" mix aka the "Why'd You Have to Leave Me, Baby?" mix aka the "I Can't Say it with Words So I Will Say it With Song: I Love You".
If you had any idea how good of a mood i'm in, you'd find this mix to be kinda funny.
Here's what's on it so far, let me know if you've got any suggestions for additions, cause I think it's almost there, but could use a few more songs... I figured this might be kinda fun for anyone that's bored:

Interpol - Untitled
Deathcab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
The Cure - Lovesong
Nada Surf - Inside of Love
John Lennon - Jealous Guy
Bright Eyes - Love I dont Have to Love
Beck - Lost Cause
Blur - Out of Time
Morrissey - Whatever Happens, I Love You
Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have
Pulp - This is Hardcore
INXS - Never Tear Us Apart
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
Smiths - Asleep

PS - I'd like to see the Mamas & The Papa's "Dedicated to the One I Love" used in a murder scene Tarantino style.

Check out this Israeli commercial for McDonald's newest menu addition, the McShoarma, done as a Pulp Fiction parody. It's ehhhhh hilarious. Thanks to the Husky G for sending it my way.

Since I don't have time to write about my weekend at the moment (it was fun, thanks for asking), I'm gonna post what my friend wrote about his weekend:

sometimes my life is outta a movie. this weekend was all about vip and being catred to. we got a suite. drugs were givin to us everywhere. we got into the porn convention for nothing, because lets face it, if you gotta pay for it it just takes all the excitement outta it. everywhere we went we avoided hour lines and got to our roped off awaitde table which was filled with the best champagne and vodka complete with all mixers. we met tons of people. we took a town car everywhere. ladies flocked. i managed to get a hold of 3 porn stars that i knew where out there and so the last night ended in a serious orgy. i love my life. i hope im not peaking though.

In addition to that his limo driver had a suitcase full of more drugs than my last birthday party.

So, um... I think I'm gonna borrow my mom's sweet ride and go to jersey to fight the good fight against tsunamis.

Yes. This is what I will do.

Coheed & Cambria, Taking Back Sunday and... uh... MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE! are all on the bill.

Go here to buy tickets on friday.

Hey guys!
I'm really sorry about the delay with the stolen transmission singles. With the holiday season i got super backlogged, but everyone that ordered Louis XIV should be getting them in the mail by this weekend or monday (fingers crossed). So sorry. Otherwise, I've taken down the link to order more cause i'm now sold out! Sweet. Sell that shit on eBay in 6 months.

the oohlas single is also in the mail. YAY!

i love you. i love you. i love you.

I was just wondering what songs I listen to the most at work, so I clicked on "Play count" on my itunes and here are my top 20:

1. gone - the oohlas
2. the rapid - the oohlas
3. Neighborhood #3 (power out) - the arcade fire
4. Evil - Interpol
5. Take You on a Cruise - Interpol
6. Slow Hands - Interpol
7. Next Exit - Interpol
8. Apocalypse Please - Muse
9. I Just Wanna Live - Good Charlotte
10. the cahuenga shuffle - the oohlas
11. Long Time Coming - Delays
12. Cordial Invitation - Giant Drag
13. slow mo disco - the oohlas
14. NARC - Interpol
15. rupert krikor chang - the oohlas
16. If It's Up to Us - The Vicar
17. Helena - My Chemical Romance
18. Nearer Than Heaven - Delays
19. You are the Generation Who Bought More Shoes and You Get What You Deserve - Johnnyboy
20. Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself - The Killers

Something doesn't seem right... cause as the people who sit by me at work can tell you, I listen to a lot more Killers than that... I wonder if my itunes reset it self when i hit 1000 plays.

Rather than point out the excessive lack of Joy Division in there, tell me what's your top twenty.

The past seven days have been awesome for me and finding bands whose songs I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO.

Peep this. My friend told me that it's her fake band, and suggested i only listen to track one. BUT I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THE REST OF THIS STUFF. Pop music. pop music. pop music. pop music. get out of my head pop music. stop being so good.

Umm... this is the best thing ever.

I've been obsessed with Sienna Miller's version of Kate Moss' style for a few months and today I fina-fucking-lly found where she got this amazing belt (or one that is a replica of it) from: Jocasi. I just emailed them to find out how to order the belts if you live in america cause there are at least 2 that i want.

I have listened to The Spinto Band's "Oh Mandy" no less than 2902 times since I was told about them on Thursday. And when I wasn't listening to them I was thinking about listening to them. I've sat around wondering if the song is about my sometimes girl crush, Mandy Moore. I've had dreams about that C-note that gets hit on the piano every so often (i think it's a C-note... it's been a while).

Anyway, they're playing TONIGHT at the knitting factory in NYC at 10:30pm. Apparnetly the band The Teeth is worth seeing as well.

I need to stop listneing to this song. fuck. fuck. fuck. i can't stop. must stop. i can't. must try. nope. dont do it.
