EACH NIGHT I BURY MY LOVE AROUND YOU

That was pretty interesting to watch on Saturday night. It made me late for dancing... you know, watching her dance the gig.

People make fun of Paul Banks' lyrics... I love them. I think he's a genius poet, and a terribly underrated wordsmith. But that's just me. I mean, I want my gravestone to say "Say Hello To the Angels" for goodness sakes.

i hate to sound so cruel, but i thought it was really funny to see ashely simpson caught in such an awkward and exposing situation. to see her band ready to play along to the song she had just sung, and her not knowing what at all to do. i really loved seeing her like a deer in the headlights. and even better than that is her record company trying to make excuses for her, saying it was some sort of drum beat/cd malfunction. who are they kidding! i love it! i hope more pop stars get exposed as the untalented corporate puppets they are and that more people open their eyes to what music really is. it isn't about being polished and seamless and perfect. it's emotional and raw and soulful. i've heard discussion that it was an intentional prank done by someone at SNL. as doubtful as this seems, hats off to ya if it was intentional and you were the one behind it!

When I saw Ashlee on SNL the first thing I thought of was what would Sarah think about it?...well , it was the second thing I thought of because I couldn't help to think that Shit Im so glad she fucked up because it re-enforce my feelings towards the siblings of famous people.

Be of good cheer, Interpol fans! Nothing's as under-rated as the subtle genius of New Order lyrics. My personal favorite: "The sea was kinda rough/it made me feel sick/but I like that kind of stuff/it beats arithmetic." Try using your best misunderstood lyric as pick up lines next time. Coming on to someone by telling them to "hold your mistakes up" will not only get you goofy looks, but free drinks!

"i hope more pop stars get exposed as the untalented corporate puppets they are" uhhh...exposed? Is there anyone who doesn't know that already?

Personally, I prefer pop-star lip-synching to the slavish imitation practiced by rock bands like Interpol. At least lip-synch provides the potential for a kind of originality; just ask your friendly neighborhood drag performer.

Pop music ain't opera, people. It's as much about imaginative presentation as anything else. Check any VH1 special on Madonna for confirmation of that. Granted, Ashlee doesn't have much imagination going for her, but you have to feel for her as the teenaged target of so much adult bitterness and envy. One could argue that she's being pilloried online because of her lack of professionalism, but where was the blogger outrage in the aftermath of the wardrobe malfunction? That was an instance of unprofessionalism backed up by sheer vulgarity, followed by corporate racism and cowardice. Then again, in today's America, where Howard Stern is celebrated as a First Amendment hero, there can be no greater crime than lip-synching to an innocuous pop song.

how about you put "she can read she can read she can read she can read...she's bahhhhd" on your tombstone?

..."One could argue that she's being pilloried online because of her lack of professionalism..." I can't believe that someone actually wasted a $10 word like "pilloried" in defense of a pop-tart.

The Village Voice review of Antics was very pro-Paul's-lyrics:

But you have to admit that "friends don't waste wine when there's words to sell" is just fucking terrible.
